How it started

Two 27-year-old tradies who took a chance, worked hard, and built a $6.5M property portfolio in under 5 years. What started as a small, humble investment journey quickly grew into something extraordinary. From navigating tough markets to finding hidden opportunities, they’ve learnt a few things along the way, and now, Mitch, The Founder of SJR Property Group shares his knowledge with other Tradies, so they can have the same success in property.

How they did it?

At just 21 years old, they made the call to take control of their future. They sold both their cars, scraped together what little cash they had, and used it to buy their first investment property. About a year later, their mortgage broker called with some good news — the property had gone up in value, and there was enough equity to buy their second one. That was the lightbulb moment — and the property investing journey really kicked off from there.

Over the next five years, they went all in on learning everything they could about property investing — reading books, listening to podcasts, finding mentors, and completing property courses. Getting educated was a game-changer. It helped them understand how to build a solid investing strategy — where to buy, what to look for when securing finance, what mistakes to avoid, and how to find properties that actually perform.

Through a lot of trial and error, they’ve now built a property portfolio worth over $6.5 million — and today, they’re helping other tradies do the same.
